These developments are setting the tone for the future of the student recruitment sector. For education agents, pathway providers, and institutions, this marks the beginning of a new chapter, one in which high standards and integrity will matter more than ever.
The reality is this: in the future, there will be fewer places for poor practice to hide. And for those of us in the international student recruitment sector committed to doing things the right way, that should be good news. Equally, it’s undoubtedly a challenge. To succeed in this new environment, we must raise our game and build a strong core of professionalism, quality, and – most critically – trust.
A key part of that evolution lies in a greater commitment to meeting the expectations of students and institutions. Trust must be earned. Agents must demonstrate, consistently and transparently, that they are acting in the best interests of both students and the universities they represent. That they are reputable. That they do the right thing, in all markets and under all circumstances. Even when no one is watching.
