This program, developed in partnership with India’s Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission, aims to bridge the educational gap for Indian students, especially those from smaller cities.
According to a release shared by the Indian Embassy in the US, students and researchers will be exposed to a wide range of developments in their field of study and opportunities across the country.
“The objective is to give Indian students and researchers exposure to the latest developments in their fields of study, as well as knowledge, career, skilling, and research opportunities from relevant experts across the US,” read a statement by the Embassy.
“Indian-origin faculty from renowned US universities like Stanford, Purdue, the University of Maryland, and George Mason University are participating in the first round of this series.”
At the inaugural session of the series, deputy chief of mission ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan highlighted the expansion of India’s academic, research, and industrial ecosystem in key and emerging technologies.

The session highlighted India’s contributions to semiconductors, artificial intelligence and machine learning, high-performance computing, quantum science and technology, bioengineering, clean energy, and advanced materials.
These sectors play a crucial role in strengthening the academic, research, and technology partnership between India and the US, which is guided by the leadership of both nations.
The move also follows India and the US’s growing collaboration in technology and artificial intelligence, with the launch of the US-India initiative on critical and emerging technology in May 2022.
US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the initiative to form ties between the two countries in technological and industrial collaboration.
Moreover, last year the Association of American Universities also launched the task force on expanding United States-India university partnerships to build US-India higher education collaborations.
